Prune Cake

MY PARENTS WERE MARRIED IN 1939 AND EVERY BIRTHDAY FROM FEB. 6, 1940 ON MY MOM MADE DAD A PRUNE CAKE FOR HIS BIRTHDAY UNTIL HIS PASSING IN 1999 AT 93. I’M SURE SHE GOT THE RECIPE FROM HIS MOTHER. THE RECIPE CARD I FOUND WHICH MOM HAD WRITTEN LATER ON ONLY GIVES THE INGREDIENTS BUT I REMEMBER HELPING HER MAKE IT AS A CHILD. ON MY DAD’S 100 YEAR BIRTHDAY ALL 4 OF US SIBLINGS LIVING IN DIFFERENT AREAS MADE THE PRUNE CAKE NOT KNOWING WHAT EACH DID UNTIL WE TALKED LATER THAT EVENING. THE PLATE I HAVE IT ON WAS THE ORIGINAL CAKE PLATE MOM USED EVERY YEAR ONLY FOR THAT CAKE.
