3/4 cup honey
2 tablespoons butter
1 beaten egg
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon allspice
3/4 teaspoon cardamon
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon anise seed powder
In a large bowl heat the honey and butter together and stir in the egg. Sift the dry ingredients together and add to the honey mixture. Let stand to stiffen. Shape into 3/4 inch balls and bake for 10 minutes in a 350 degree oven.
Prepare a glaze:
One beaten egg white
1 Tablespoon honey
1/2 teaspoon anise seed powder
1/4 teaspoon cardamon
1 cup of confectioner’s sugar
Drop several cookies into the glaze and stir them about to coat thoroughly
