Grandma’s Old-Fashioned Sugar Cookies
Krista O’Riley, Arlington, South Dakota
My grandfather managed grain elevators. He made friends with the area farmers. During “threshing time”, he would help out in the field and grandma would help with the meals with the other wives. She would make her sugar cookies and the men would grab several of them for when they were working. After they had kids, grandma would make these for special occasions. My mom showed me at a young age how to make Grandma’s sugar cookies. This recipe has been in my family for at least 75 years. I look forward to teaching my future children how to make these cookies as well. In memory of my mom and grandma.
